I had originally planned on creating this blog after I found out I was pregnant but after losing the first baby I didn't want to jinx it. Next week I will be 25 weeks and have only 1 more week until I'm out of the 2nd trimester and (hopefully) in the clear!
Last night while complaining to Steven about how much I hate having heartburn and that our baby girl is probably going to come out looking like a hairy monkey, he reminded me how much I am going to miss being pregnant. I will miss it. I will miss being able to feel her move, kick, and wiggle around. And I will definitely miss waking up and thinking man I really need to bake a chocolate cake today after I dreamed about it all night. Then it hit me, I have not managed to write down anything that has happened during this pregnancy. I know that some day down the road I want something to look back at and reflect on to remind myself how amazing this time is. How much weight I gained or what weird cravings I had that week. Just an overall recap of what I'm either excited about or terrified of, that way one day down the road I can look back at it and laugh, cry, or just try to relive the moment.
First Trimester: Week 1 - Week 13
The first 13 weeks were not fun. I was sick, sick, sick.
Weight Gain: At my 11 week appointment I was down 2 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight.
Sleep: Sleep was great, sometimes it was hard to stay awake for more than 4 hours at a time.
Cravings: Mashed potatoes, salads, hot wings, and fast food.
Aversions: Chick-fil-a and mexican food
Symptoms: 24/7 nausea, tired, crying for no reason, one day I want to eat any and everything I can get my hands on and the next day I can't stand to look at food. I also tried using cocoa butter to prevent stretch marks and I ended up with a bad rash.
Wedding Ring: Still on :)
Stretch Marks: None yet!
Things I Miss: Raspberry margaritas
Second Trimester: Week 14 - Week 26
Weight Gain: up 7 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight.
Sleep: For the most part I've gotten my energy back but I still have days that I sleep all day.
Cravings: Lemons with salt, chocolate cake, apples with cream cheese dip, pineapples, mashed/baked potatoes, and bread.
Aversions: None that I can think of.
Symptoms: My back started to hurt around 21 weeks. Tylenol and a heating pad have really helped me out!
Wedding Ring: On. Although I took it off the other day to make biscuits from scratch and my husband almost had a heart attack.
Stretch Marks: Nope! But I feel lucky because of 2 reasons. 1) I've only managed to gain 7 pounds and 2) The couple of times I attempted to use stretch mark cream I had a bad reaction to it and am too afraid to try anything else.
Things I Miss: Margaritas and Alamo Drafthouse. If you don't know about Alamo Drafthouse then let me explain what you are missing out on in life. It's a movie theatre but not your typical movie theatre. In front of your seat is a very long table and it has lighting underneath it and a full menu consisting of appetizers, pizzas, entrees, sandwiches, desserts, and other items you would find at a regular theatre. You can also order beer and wine and the best part about it all, its all delivered to you during the movie so you never have to get up! Now you are probably wondering why this is listed under things I miss and the real reason is this, this is where Steven and I had our first date and its kinda a tradition for us to order a pitcher (or two) of Dos XX. The place just isn't the same anymore!
